The Urban Decay 24/7 Lip Pencil, comes in the shape of a regular pencil, with a plastic cap. The color of the pencil itself varies and is the exact color of the liner inside, so it’s very easy to locate in your purse or makeup case, depending on what shade you’re looking for. On the body of the pencil, all the relevant information can be found, name of the product, brand and shade. It’s really quite simple and elegant and it can stand proudly in your pencil case.
There are two available colors in the region, Broken Warm Rose, a sort of light maroon and Manic Rosy Wine, a dark pink. Worldwide, there are 49 available shades, ranging from light pinks and nudes to dark browns and reds.
We tried the Manic Rose Wine dark pink shade.
This product doesn’t have a scent. The texture is really smooth, and quite compact. It doesn’t come off in pieces like is sometimes the case with lip liners.
Trace your natural lip line, then fill in the lips completely with the Glide-On Lip Pencil in a shade that matches the lipstick shade you’ll be using. This will allow defined lips and intensified color.
Pro tip: You can use the brand’s clear shaded lip pencil, Ozone, or any other transparent lip liners you have lying around as it will allow you ultra-long wear. First line the outside of lips with the clear shade to fill in any fine lines and prevent feathering.
The brand claims that the 24/7 Glide-On lip pencil is long-lasting and waterproof. We all know this is one of the major attractions for any lip liner, as the close proximity to the tongue make it very likely that it will come in contact with multiple liquids, food, skin etc. According to the brand whether you smooch, pout, smack, nibble or lick, the liner will stay on. Urban Decay also claims that the pencil glides on smoothly and offers clean lines.
We found that the pencil stays creamy and helps defines your lips in a very nice way. The better you use it, the better the result is of course, but even if you’re not a professional, you’ll be able to achieve a pleasant effect. The range and multitude of available colors is also appreciated, as you can switch depending on the color you want on any given day. The ingredients are enticing, vitamin E, jojoba oil and cottonseed oil help moisturise your lips.
Now for longevity, we found that the Glide-On Pencil did indeed last quite long on the lips, for about 5-6 hours, even when confronted with multiple liquids, which makes it waterproof. This is much better than most lip liners you can find on the market, because they usually either fade away after a couple of hours or become so hard and dry that the result is quite disappointing.
Pro-tip: You can mix and match light and darker shades, with darker one on the outside of the lips and the lighter one on the inside, to give your pout more depth. Especially if you’re not using a lipstick on top, just the pencil.
This lip pencil by Urban Decay is priced at 25.2$ for 1.2g. It is more expensive than the similar range MAC Lip Pencil, sold at 20$ for 1.45g, and much more expensive than the lower range L’Oréal Paris Infaillible Lip Liner, sold at 11$ for 2g.
