The “Colortattoo Concentrated Crayon” by Maybelline is designed as a thick black crayon. The color of the eyeshadow itself is reflected on the bottom of the pencil and the eyeshadow-crayon is protected with a cap. The product is travel friendly.
The eyeshadow-crayons are available in 10 shimmery colors that range in intensity from light pink to charcoal.
The eyeshadow has a very smooth and creamy texture.
The product does not have any particular smell.
When we tested the “Colortattoo Concentrated Crayon” we noticed how easy it was to apply on the eyelids. In fact, it glided very smoothly on the eyelids and did not smudge. The color of the eyeshadow was highly pigmented, and we only needed to pass the crayon once over the eyelids to achieve a deep color. Because of the nature of the product, the eyeshadow was creamy instead of powdery and had longer wearability than powder eyeshadows. The “Colortattoo Concentrated Crayon” did not crease or smear at all, even when worn all day long. The level of shimmeriness of the eyeshadow depended on the color tested. So, if you prefer a less shimmery effect on the eyelids, we recommended checking the swatches at the store. However, the crayon was thick, so we were not able to control the thickness of the eyeshadow line on the eyelids. Moreover, with time, even with a cap on, the “Colortattoo Concentrated Crayon” dried quickly and lost some of its creamy texture.
The “Colortattoo Concentrated Crayon” by Maybelline retails at an average price of $6.9/2.2mL which is comparable to other products in the same range such as the “Infallible Eye Shadow Crayon” by L’Oreal Paris which sells at $7.9/2.8mL. It remains however cheaper than other products in a different range like NARS Cosmetics’ “Velvet Shadow Stick” which retails at $29/1.6mL.
