The product has a light gel-like consistency with scrubbing beads in it.
The “Exfoliating Cleansing Cream with Charcoal” has a discrete herbal smell to it.
Apply the cream on a clean but wet face. Massage gently to release the exfoliating features of the beads. Wait until the cream is somewhat translucent then wash the face gently but thoroughly. The cream can be used for either cleansing or face make-up removing purposes. However, you should avoid the eye-areas while using the “Exfoliating Cleansing Cream with Charcoal.”
We found the “Exfoliating Cleansing Cream with Charcoal” by Sephora to be an effective cleansing cream in the sense that it helped to gently clean the face and open-up the skin’s pores. However, in terms of skin exfoliation, the product’s effect was very minimal. In fact, when applied to normal skin, the T-zone felt less oily but did not completely mattify. The general feel of the face was softer, however, there was no deep detoxifying effect. This may be due to the little concentration of charcoal extract used in the product. For regular use, the product is gentle on the skin because the exfoliating beads are not coarse. If a deep exfoliation is desired then we recommend using more concentrated products that detoxify the skin and get rid of dead skin cells.
The “Exfoliating Cleansing Cream with Charcoal” officially sells at $7.5/50 mL which is pricier than other products with similar effects and even larger capacity, such as the “Pure Clay Detoxifying Gel Wash Detox and Brighten” by L’Oréal which retails at $6.9/130 mL and Garnier’s “Skinactive Skin + Shine Control Cleansing Gel” that sells officially at $7.9/150 mL.
