The “Rouge Essentiel Silky Crème Lipstick” by Laura Mercier comes in a bronze rectangular frame. The product opens easily as you hold the base and pull off the cap. The packaging is minimalistic and sleek. We found it to be sturdy and travel-friendly. The brand name is printed in white on the product.
This lipstick has a buttery and creamy texture.
The product doesn’t have an overpowering smell.
The “Rouge Essentiel Silky Crème Lipstick” is available in 30 different shades that are divided into 5 different color groups: Feminine Pink, Sophisticated Red, Youthful Coral, Provocative Mauve, and Natural Nude. We tested this lipstick in Orange Red, a bright red shade with orange undertones.
The “Rouge Essentiel Silky Crème Lipstick” by Laura Mercier was very easy to apply. One swipe was enough to get fully pigmented lips. The product was creamy and blended nicely on the lips. We found it comfortable to wear as it had a weightless feel.
The lipstick has a satin finish, but the dewiness of the lipstick was very refreshing. While the lipstick had long-lasting effects, it was not transfer proof or smudge proof. This is normal for a creamy lipstick, so there is nothing unusual about that. In fact, the lipstick has a moisturizing effect on the lips.
Overall, we found the “Rouge Essentiel Silky Crème Lipstick” to deliver on its promise of fully pigmented lips with long-lasting color and comfortable wear. However, despite its hydrating effect, we would recommend exfoliating the lips before applying this lipstick to prevent the appearance of flaky or dry lips.
The “Rouge Essentiel Silky Crème Lipstick” by Laura Mercier retails at $32/3.4g which is comparable to other products in the same range like Estee Lauder’s “Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick” which sells at $32/3.4g and Yves Saint Laurent Beauty’s “Rouge Pur Couture Lipstick” which retails at $38/3.8g. This product is pricier than other lipsticks in a different range like Urban Decay’s “Vice Lipstick” which sells at $19/3.1g.
