This product has a liquid but gel-like consistency.
The lip gloss has a strong vanilla scent that can be overpowering.
The “Lip Strobe” comes in 12 different colors that range from nudes to peachy pinks and deep violets and coppers. We tested the “Lip Strobe” in “Snobby” which is described by Huda Beauty as “a semi-sheer light pink base with pink and gold pearls.”
Application:The “Lip Strobe” can be applied on its own as a lip gloss or as a coating layer on top of your favorite lipstick. Use the heart-shaped brush to contour your lips and apply a layer of the gloss. Or, apply your favorite lipstick and wait for it to dry, then apply the lip strobe.
Essentially, the “Lip Strobe” by Huda Beauty is a metallic liquid lip gloss that not only makes the lips shimmer, but also makes them look fuller. The applicator brush was easy to use, and the product glided smoothly on the lips. When applied on its own, the “Lip Strobe” had medium wearability: it felt sticky on the lips and faded when eating and/or drinking. However, when applied on top of a matte lipstick, the “Lip Strobe” lasted longer and it added an edge to everyday lipstick. We tested the “Snobby” shade which is a vibrant peachy color that has medium coverage. We noticed that the darker shades like Boujee, Moody, Fearless, are opaquer and they can be worn by themselves without looking washed out. However, other lighter shades like Enchanting, Poshy and Ritzy and Enchanting are worn best with a matte lipstick base. We would recommend testing the “Lip Strobe” at the store to find the best shade for your skin tone as the product reflects light and changes intensity from one skin tone to the other.
The “Lip Strobe” by Huda Beauty retails for $26/4mL which is pricier than other products in the same range like MAC Cosmetics’ “Lipglass” which sells at an average price of $18/3.1mL and Too Faced’s “Rich & Dazzling High-Shine Sparkling Lip Gloss” which retails at $21/7.4mL. However, it remains less expensive than products in a different range like Dior Makeup’s “Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss” which retails at $30/6.3ML.
