The “Pure Matte Lipstick” by Nars comes in a sleek and slim long tube that is matte black colored. The product and brand information are engraved in white on the tube, and the color of the lipstick is written on the bottom end. The lipstick itself has a sharped angled tip, which allows for easy and precise application.

The “Pure Matte Lipstick” comes in 16 colors that range from nudes to browns, pinks and reds. We tested “Vesuvio” a deep intense and bright red color.

The “Pure Matte Lipstick” by Nars Cosmetics is easy to apply. In fact, the lipstick’s formula is very creamy which allows the product to glide smoothly on the lips. Additionally, because of the slightly sharpened tip of the lipstick, it is easy to contour the lips before filling them. After testing the “Pure Matte Lipstick” for several days, we found that the color pigmentation is vivid and rich. In fact, the color is opaque, and it defines the lips very well. The “Pure Matte Lipstick” also soothes the lips and moisturizes them deeply. This is due to the fact that the formula includes mango butter which provides intense lip hydration. However, the lipstick is not completely transfer-proof, especially during meals. It also tends to bleed around the edges of the lips. Therefore, we recommend allowing the lipstick to sit on the lips for 15 to 20mns before eating or drinking. This helps the “Pure Matte Lipstick” to be consolidated on the lips and to have longer wearability. When tested on dry lips, we found that the product highlights the look of chapped lip and makes them look patchy and waxy. So, we would recommend exfoliating the dry lips before using the “Pure Matte Lipstick” by Nars.

The “Pure Matte Lipstick” by Nars Cosmetics retails at an average price of $28/2.9g which is pricier than other products in the same range like MAC Cosmetics’ “Retro Matte Lipstick” which sells at an average price of $18.5/3g. However, it remains cheaper than products in a different range like Chanel’s “Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lipstick” which retails at an average price of $37/3.4g.
