The Kérastase Fondant Elixir Ultime is the conditioner of Kérastase’s Elixir range which includes also a shampoo and mask. It comes in an opaque white 200ml tube with a gold cap. The name and details are in written black giving a very premium look.
The product is designed for fine to normal dull hair.
The conditioner has a light cream-like consistency which is quite runny.
It has a very light and fresh scent.
To use the conditioner, we simply applied a quarter size amount of it to wet hair spreading it evenly throughout mid-lengths and ends and left it on 2-3 minutes before rinsing thoroughly.
This conditioner has a runny creamy texture which can make it prone to waste while closing the lid under the shower but coats the hair evenly and easily. It was used 3-4 times a week after shampooing over a period of 3 weeks.
After the first two washes, the lightweight conditioner deeply nourished the hair while providing instant replenishment, fluidity and shine.
The conditioner contains 3 main ingredients that work in harmony to provide a clean, itch-free scalp:
– Pracaxi Oil which gives the hair shine, nourishment and deep conditioning
– Camellia Oil which helps smooth the hair fiber resulting in incredible shine
– Argan Oil which restores strength to the hair and protects it from external aggressors
Upon two weeks after the first wash, the five-oil blend in the product worked its magic: the hair felt more nourished, smoother and with a light movement and bounce to it without making it oilier. For someone who has curly hair, the conditioner also worked wonders in disciplining the frizz and reducing visible split ends.
Overall, the hair feels silkier, more nourished and healthy looking, tamed, strengthened and protected from pollution and external factors (courtesy of the argan oil).
Kérastase Fondant Elixir Ultime retails for $34.8/200ml which is on the high side compared to similar products such as Vichy Dercos Nutrients Vitamin conditioner sold at 24.5$/200ml.
