The “Unicorn Essence” by Farsali comes in an opaque purple bottle with a white and gold dropper applicator as a lid. The pipette allows for easy application of the product. While the finish is nice and sleek, it does not reflect the product’s price tag which is closer to luxurious brands. Details about the brand and the product are printed in gold on the bottle. The packaging is sturdy, and the product travels well.
This serum has a water-like consistency that is very volatile as it is absorbed instantly by the skin.
The product has a strong smell that fades after application.
Using the dropper, dispense the serum from the bottle and apply it on a clean, dry and naked face. Gently massage the product onto your skin. The product should be absorbed by the skin instantly.
The “Unicorn Essence” worked like a nourishing oil on the skin. It dried very quickly and did not become greasy. The product didn’t leave any residue and gave the skin a visible glow. Even after we applied our moisturizer and makeup, the skin felt soft and refreshed.
The serum also hydrated the skin, so even when we used it alone without moisturizer or makeup, the “Unicorn Essence” made the skin look and feel smooth and dewy.
However, the product did not suit all skin types. In fact, the “Unicorn Essence” did not work well on oily skin or acne-prone skin. In those cases, the product caused skin breakage and redness. We recommend using caution when deciding to apply the product as its effects varied from person to person and across different skin types. Consulting with a dermatologist before using it as part of your skin care routine is advised.
The “Unicorn Essence” by Farsali retails at $54/30mL which is a good price when compared to other products that promise to deliver similar results. In fact, Becca’s “Skin Love Glow Elixir” retails at $48/5mL and Clinique’s “Repairwear Laser Focus Smooths, Restores, Corrects” which sells at $50/30mL. It is also cheaper than Clarins’ “Double Serum” sells at $124/47.3mL.
