Smell:
Although this cleanser has a sharp, floral smell, it is not irritating at all.
Texture:
A light-weight, gel formula that spreads effortlessly on the skin.
Application:
Pump some gel into your palm and lather up with water, then spread it on your face and massage gently. Finally, wash your face well with water. Note that it is well sufficient to apply a minimal amount of foaming gel to the face, which makes this product quite durable. It is also best that you don’t leave the product on your face for over a minute, since it might cause a tingling sensation.
Effect:
We tried out La Roche-Posay’s foaming gel twice a day, morning and evening, for two weeks on oily, acne-prone skin with excessive sebum production. Once applied, our skin shortly felt refreshed due to the cooling sensation it provided. The skin also appeared clean and purified every time after washing it off, since it removed all the grime that contributes to oily shine. You might notice that it tightens up the skin as well, but the effect wears off after a few minutes.
Two weeks upon use, the skin seemed to be less oily throughout the day, having been washed with the cleanser in the morning; which gave way for a stronger makeup fix. Big, open pores gradually became less visible too. In addition to that, massaging the nose area with this product particularly, helped reduce the appearance of black heads.
Using this product did not result in any irritation or excessive redness, but helped soothe it down. Keep in mind that this cleanser does not contain any exfoliating beads, as opposed to other cleansers that come with a dual cleansing and exfoliating property to remove dead cells. So if you prefer deep cleansing or effective skin exfoliation, you can incorporate an exfoliating scrub for oily skin into your daily routine.
Price:
The Effaclar foaming gel retails at 28 USD/ 200 ml and 35 USD/ 400 ml in Lebanon. Its price is comparable to that of other cleansers designed for oily, acne-prone skin such as the Cetaphil Pro Derma Control – Oil Removing Foam Wash for 30 USD per 237 ml, as well as Soskin Gentle Purifying Lotion for 27 USD per 250 ml.

This gel is amazing for oily and acne prone skin. I tried many cleanser for oily skin and I think this is a top 1. It mattifies very well and refresh the skin. Don’t use it if your skin is not much oily.

I love this cleanser, on the days I don’t feel like taking my makeup off this cleanser comes to the rescue and does not leave a trace of makeup on my skin. It does not dry out my skin especially since I have acne-prone skin. Highly highly recommend!!

Personally, my experience with this product as a person with dry sensitive skin was not pleasant. I felt it was too harsh for my skin and furthered skin irritation. I do not recommend it for someone with dry, sensitive skin.

I’ve tried a countless number of face wash but this is still my number one product. It cleans the face gently yet effectively. Doesn’t dry the skin nor cause acne. I have used this cleanser for the past few years. It has its pros and cons
Pros: it cleans the skin very well and its anti-oily formula prevents pimples
Cons: because it is anti-oily, it does leave the skin a bit dry (my skin is rather mixed not oily)
But this problem can easily be overcame with a moisturizer after using it

I can’t live without this cleanser. It’s one of the best cleansers that I have ever used!! I have been using it since three years. Based on my own experience, this product was prescribed for me by a pharmacist on SohatiCare. She prescribed this La Roche Posay Effaclar Gel Moussant Cleanser after i told her that my skin type is combination and i have acne under my skin not above the skin. I started using this product during the winter for 2 months with no any good results. From the beginning, I noticed that my face is becoming dry but i say to myself that maybe it’s because the cleanser is treating my acnes. So I continued using it till its 2 months of usage with no advantage. But my face changed into a very very very dry skin, so i stopped using it, it was the first time my face looks terrific to this degree. I don’t recommend this product for combination skin, its only for oily skin. Finally, i lately knew that my combination skin doesn’t need this kind of strong powerful cleanser. Many people said that its very good, but its really very good for oily skin types not for combination skin types. So be careful what to choose for your face.

this effaclar cleanser from la roche posay is my absolute favorite ! First of all, this product leaves you with a clean face. Second of all, this has a gel kind of texture on your fingers but once on your face it’s very foamy. Third of all, this doesn’t leave a disgusting smell on your face, which for me is very important ! For my skin routine, I use this cleanser and add a moisturizer afterwards. It is so effective for acne prone and sensitive skin. I had no problems using it at all. It is so gentle and refreshing

This cleans your face with drying it out. I’ve tried so many well known face cleansers but I always come back to this one. You really feel your face is clean. I get the 400ml because in the long run the price is better AND my husband also uses it to wash his face. He also likes it better then the others.

I have been using it for three months; I bought the 400ml and still, have 200ml in it. I’m obsessed with this cleanser using it twice per day. is an extremely gentle face wash that purifies without disrupting acne-prone skin. The foaming formula reaches deep down into pores to remove makeup, dirt, oil and debris and unclog pores. The gel formula removes excess oil to prevent a shiny complexion.
