The “Bain Elixir Ultime” by Kérastase comes in a luxurious transparent gold-colored plastic bottle. The packaging is very sturdy and classy especially because of the gold color and design. The product and brand information are written in black on the bottle.
However, as with most Kérastase products, the screw-on lid is not practical because it is difficult to close after having applied the shampoo.
This shampoo is designed for dull or lack-luster hair.
This shampoo has a strong fragrant smell which can be overpowering.
This shampoo has a gel-like texture and consistency.
The “Bain Elixir Ultime” by Kérastase is infused with lavish oils and this is reflected in the smell of the shampoo. The product is very luxurious-feeling when applied on the hair. It is luscious and refreshing.
The shampoo lathers up nicely and it feels soft and silky on the scalp. The product cleansed the hair thoroughly and deeply. The hair felt healthier even during application. The product includes a unique combination of oils” pracaxi oil (for conditioning), maize oil (for shine), argan oil (for protection) and camelia oil (for a smooth effect). Additionally, the shampoo is paraben and silicone free.
We found that the shampoo did add shine and glow to the hair. The product revitalized the hair thoroughly and made the hair look smooth and silky. We recommend washing the hair with cold water to clear the oiliness of the product and prevent build-up and residue. And although this shampoo is tailored to all hair types, we would not recommend using it if you have oily hair as it tended to grease it up even more.
The “Bain Elixir Ultime” by Kérastase Paris sells at $28.5/250mL. Which is considered a median price compared to other products in a similar range like René Furterer’s “Karité Nutri, Intense Nourishing Shampoo” which retails at $32/150mL and Vichy’s “Decros Nutrients Vitamin Shampoo” which sells at $21/250mL.
