Available Colors:
The foundation is available in a wide range of colors, specifically in 24 shades for light to medium tones. However the shade system identifiable by numbers is sometimes confusing; while foundations are generally identified by 3 tones: warm, cool and neutral, the Luminous Silk foundation has a numbering system that depends on the colour of your skin (fair, light, medium, tan, deep) and on its undertones (neutral, warm, golden, peachy, rosy, golden and red).
A higher number is thus not necessarily a darker shade than a smaller number. For this reason, we recommend that you first test a sample of this foundation and identify the color that best suits your skin, before buying it online.
Scent:
The foundation is lightly scented.
Texture:
The Luminous Silk has a fluid, watery texture. We found it was easy to apply with a brush or a beauty blender.
Effect:
It is typically a lightweight foundation with light to medium coverage. It blends nicely onto the skin and gives a natural look with a dewy finish.
We would recommend this foundation for the ones of you who like the “no makeup makeup” but enjoy the look of a glowy skin. This is one of the reasons why it is very much used in photoshoots. It has buildable coverage to blur imperfections and the resulting effect does not look cakey.
However we noticed when using it on combination to oily skin that it tends to make the T-zone shiny during the day and will only effectively last for a couple of hours. We felt the need to set it with a powder to extend its wear-time or to use a mattifying primer on the oily zones before applying it.
We would recommend using this foundation for dry or normal skins who would benefit from its hydrating effect and for a skin with few imperfections as the coverage is relatively light, closer to a tinted moisturizer.
Price:
The foundation comes in a 30ml bottle and retails at 64 USD (official price). Although a little of product goes a long way (you only need one pump of product to use on the whole face), this makes it one of the most expensive foundations on the market. For an invisible “no makeup” effect you can find alternatives between 20 USD and 45 USD; for a longer lasting effect, brands such as Lancôme, Estee Lauder, Makeup Forever and MAC have options in the range of 35 USD to 47 USD.

Even though this foundation is pretty expensive makeup artists use it its very beautiful on the skin gives a healthy glow does not cake up

this is so worth the hype even though its pricey but so worth it not full coverage which i like does not give a cakey effect

I can’t say enough about this Foundation. It is pricey but it is worth every single penny. Coverage is medium, finish is dewy, weight is light and gives a skin like feeling, shade range and undertones are amazing especially for olive undertones. Packaging is luxurious, doesn’t have strong fragrance, long wearing and applies seamlessly. It doesn’t move all day long and works with many many primers. I love this Foundation it is the masterpiece of complexion industry. For people who prefers matte finish try the power fabric, but I love dewy finish. It is my baby.

This foundation is very lightweight and low to medium coverage. The best way to put it is with a brush so not to soak up much product. If you like full cover this isnt for you. But it gives a healthy glow to the skin. You can mix it with another full coverage foundation for an amazing effect. Highly recommend for women of older age.

“This foundation has to be one of the best foundations i have used. It is very lightweight while providing good coverage. Hydrates the skin efficiently and looks great in pictures. It is easily applied using both brush and sponge and lasts almost 12 to 14 hours, even longer if i set it with powder. Hides imperfections and blemishes well, and didn’t cause any breakouts to my skin contrary to the MAC foundation. Recommended”
