OUR EDITORIAL REVIEW

Packaging:

The “Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette” by Urban Decay looks similar to the other Naked palettes by the same brand except that the box has a soft matte finish and comes in a neutral color. The overall design of the product is simple and sleek.
The product and brand name are embossed on the palette which has a minimalist look. The palette is small in size which makes it travel friendly. The product comes with a mirror attached to the lid; however, the palette does not come with any applicator brushes.

Texture:

The shades are very light and soft.

Smell:

The product has a nice smell that is not overpowering.

Shades Available:

There are 6 full-sized shadows in total in the palette. “Venus” is a satin pale cream, “Foxy” is a peachy beige, “Walk of Shame” is a beige with pink undertones, “Naked 2” is a pale taupe, “Faint” is a dusty brown and “Crave” is a black-brown. The three light colors in the palette are pure nudes which are similar to different shades of skin tone, so their color might not be reflected greatly upon application.

Application:

For a simple look, use an eyeshadow brush to apply one thin layer of eyeshadow over the eyelid. If you wish to go for a bolder look, you can use a lighter shade to define the inner eye and then use a darker shade on the rest of the eyelid. For best results, we recommend using a base primer before applying the eyeshadow.

Effect:

The “Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette” was easy to use and suited different skin tones. Overall, we found the colors to be well pigmented, but for the three light shades: Venus, Foxy and Walk of Shame, we recommend applying more than one layer as the color is faded when applied. On the other hand, the Crave shade is very dark and can appear to be very bold over the eye lids. So, we recommend applying it gently.
The eyeshadows were smudge-proof and had a long-lasting staying power. In fact, we found that we did not need to reapply our eye make-up throughout the day. The eyeshadows of the “Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette” do not crease or crumble when applied.

Price:

The “Naked Basics Eyeshadow Palette” retails at $35.8/6shades which is pricier than other products such as L’Oreal Paris’ “La Petite Mini Eyeshadow Palette” series which sells at $18/6shades.
