Packaging:
The Elixir Ultime hair oil comes in a shiny honey-gold cardboard box, with the information about the product written in a black font, along with the Kerastase logo in white. Once open, the box reveals a heavy golden glass bottle with reflective prismatic golden labelling and a golden colored lock-pump made of both metal and plastic. This packaging is very luxurious and nice but it is not the most practical for travel.
Texture:
The Elixir Ultime oil has a light touch – lighter than regular oil – a fluid texture, which makes it easy to spread on your hair, whether it’s wet, damp, or dry. We even tested it on a small skin patch, to control its “oily effect”, it proved to be not thick and was quickly absorbed, leaving a non-oily skin. It is also colorless.
Hair type:
This hair care is ideal for normal to thick hair.
Smell:
Thanks to the Camelia and Argan oils present in this oil blend, the smell of the Elixir is really nice. It is light and flowery, with a faint hint of vanilla scent.
Application:
This Kerastase hair oil’s strongest point is that it can be used in multiple ways, and for multiple purposes, which, if you’re in the market for a hair care oil – can make it a smart buy.
1- Pre-Cleanse: A pre-wash to prepare hair. Apply to brushed hair and rinse out before applying shampoo to remove styling or daily residues.
2- Pre-Blow Dry: Apply to towel-dried hair and blow dry to nourish the feel of hair, protect and maximise shine.
3- Finishing: Work into the ends of the hair to control the look of frizz, smooth and style the hair whilst adding shine.
4- Touch-up: Apply throughout the day to add a touch of shine as needed.
Our advice for application, depending on the thickness of the hair, between 1 and 3 pumps on dry or towel-dried hair, as a leave-in treatment.
Effect:
The Elixir Ultime is meant to deeply nurture and hydrate hair in order to give it a shiny and nourished feel. One of the major benefits of this elixir is that it not only acts as a repair agent for damaged hair, but it also helps to shield the hair from external aggressor agents, as it creates a thin layer of protection on your hair.
We found it amazing for thick and dry hair, it sublimates curls and hair is left feeling, looking and smelling unbelievably great. We would definitely recommend regular use, several times a week for this type of hair. The added bonus is that the product isn’t too heavy, so it doesn’t weigh down hair and make it flat. However, we recommend lighter use for thin hair, maybe once a week and a smaller quantity, in order to avoid greasy and flat looks.
While it is adequate for long term use, we also recommend doing small sessions of intense use, for short periods of time throughout the year, especially for damaged and dry hair, and then taking a break from use also for short periods of time, in order to allow your hair to take full benefit from the product and not become impervious to its effects.
Price:
The Kerastase Elixir Ultime is sold at 46.6$ for 100ml. It is less expensive then PhytoElixir Subtle Intense Nutrition Oil sold at 45.5$/75ml. But you can find also more affordable hair oils like the Wella Reconstructive Elixir, which can be found on the market at 28$ for 100ml.

I can safely say I am huge fan of anything Kerastase! I haven’t skipped a day of using this oil after a shower! Super easy to use, doesn’t feel sticky after you apply it on freshly brushed wet hair, extra bonus points for the amazing fresh smell! I usually use it on the tips of my hair which gives them a smoother/healthier feel! I have thick straight hair and this worked really well. Definitely prefer using this after the shower on wet hair so it’s quickly absorbed, not sure about using this on dry hair as might look greasy!

This is a great product by Kerastase. My hair felt lighter, shinier and I was able to easily dry it after the shower. The smell of the oil is amazing. Highly recommended for a healthier hair.

I got this in the first oh beauty box and i have been using it for a month now
I used it after bath add few drops on my hands and massage it on my hair from the roots till the ends
I feel like my hair is nourished and have a little shine
My hair was dry for along time but after using it i can see results
It helped me comp my hair easily and protected it from airdryer heat. Definitely recommended

This oil is beyond amazing. Keeps the hair healthy, shiny, and non frizzy.
Its effect is very long-lasting, lasts till the following time the hair is washed.
The packaging is beautiful and luxurious feeling.
Smells nice, has a coconut-y scent and you only need 1-2 pumps depending on the volume of your hair.
The only reason i put 4 stars not 5 is because it’s a little pricy.
Other than that, it is amazing and highly recommended.
