KÉRASTASE
Chronologiste Le Bain Revitalisant
Packaging: The “Chronologiste le Bain Revitalisant” by Kerastase comes in a bulky black container of 250 mL with gold inscription on it. The cap is a gold-colored screw-on lid which can be an issue because closing it becomes difficult after having poured shampoo into your hands. Tested Shampoo and Hair Type Tested On: This shampoo is designed for all hair types. We tested this shampoo on normal but thin hair. Smell: The shampoo has a really nice flowery smell that lingers on the hair. Texture: The “Chronologiste le Bain Revitalisant” shampoo by Kerastase has a gel-like consistency. Effect: After testing the “Chronologist le Bain Revitalisant” we found that the shampoo cleansed the scalp very deeply and nourished the roots. This effect was noticed after the first use, when the dirt caused by pollution on the scalp was gone. In fact, the scalp felt very refreshed and the hair smelled really nice. Although the shampoo’s purpose is not to soften hair, but it did have that effect. The hair was also shinier and livelier. The “Chronologiste le Bain Revitalisant” is very soft on the hair and the scalp: after use, we did not notice any irritation or redness and the scalp was soothed. However, the hydrating effects of the shampoo are minimal, so we recommend pairing it with a good conditioner, maybe even the one offered by Kerastase from the same line of products as this one: the “Crème Chronologiste.” The most noticeable change in the hair, apart from the deep clean that this shampoo provides, is that the hair and the scalp felt regenerated. We found the claim made by Kerastase to be true- the “Chronologiste le Bain Revitalisant” did deliver “smoothness, shine, and softness while strengthening and regenerating the hair fiber.” Price: The average price for the “Chronologiste le Bain Revitalisant” is $26.7/250 mL. A good price compared Rene Furterer’s “Tonucia Toning and Densifying Shampoo” sells at $29/200 mL. However, the Kerastase shampoo is pricier than Klorane’s “Shampoo with Magnolia” which retails at $13/200 mL.

<a href="/brand/kerastase/"><strong> KÉRASTASE</strong> </a><br /> Nutritive Bain Magistral Image
KÉRASTASE
Nutritive Bain Magistral
Packaging: The “Nutritive le Bain Magistral” by Kerastase comes in a bulky pastel yellow container of 250 mL with black inscription on it. The lid is bright orange-colored, and is screw-on which can be an issue because it becomes difficult to close after having poured shampoo into your hands. Texture: This shampoo has a very creamy consistency. Smell: The “Nutritive Bain Magistral” has a really nice smell. Tested Shampoo and Hair Type Tested On: This shampoo is recommended for severely dried-out hair and was tested on dry hair. Effect: The “Nutritive Bain Magistral” by Kerastate contains the highest concentration of Irisome (4600ppm) and Benzoin Tree Resin which are ingredients that retain water and hydration in the hair fibers. They also restore the nutrients and vitality of the hair. This is why this shampoo is recommended for severely dried out hair that has suffered from constant exposure high levels of heat, saltwater, or coloring. After trying this shampoo, we found that it lathers up nicely when massaged into the scalp. After use, the scalp felt clean and the hair is detangled and has a very velvety soft touch- even when used without a conditioner. The hair combs very easily, even when still wet and the hair feels supple and looks shiny. However, because this is a cure, if the hair is not severely dehydrated, we recommend using this shampoo in alternation with your favorite shampoo. Or else, the hair might appear greasy after every day use. Because of the creamy texture of the “Nutritive Bain Magistral Shampoo,” the hair needs to be washed very thoroughly with lukewarm or cold water, especially on the scalp area to avoid buildup of product. Price: The “Nutritive Bain Magistral” by Kerastate retails at an average price of $26.7/250. mL, a very good price compared to similar products like Rene Furterer’s “Karité, Intense Nourishing Shampoo” which sells at $32/150 mL. However, the “Nutritive Bain Magistral” is pricier that Klorane’s “Mango Butter Shampoo” which retails at $13/200 mL.
Brand:Kerastase
<a href="/brand/kerastase/"><strong> KÉRASTASE</strong> </a><br /> Résistance Bain Thérapiste Image
KÉRASTASE
Résistance Bain Thérapiste
Packaging: The “Résistance Bain Thérapiste” by Kerastase comes in a sleek squeezable tube with a screw-on lid. The packaging looks very luxurious especially because it has a deep blue shiny emerald color with white and silver inscriptions. However, the screw-on lid is not practical because closing it in the shower is difficult after having poured shampoo into your hands. Hair Type: This shampoo is designed for very damaged and over-processed hair. Texture: The “Résistance Bain Thérapiste” has an opaque but lightweight creamy gel-like consistency. Smell: This shampoo has a flowery smell that does not overpower. Effect: When testing the “Résistance Bain Thérapiste” we noticed that the shampoo lathers very well. Additionally, a small quantity of shampoo goes a long way, so there is no need to use much, even for thick hair. Immediately after the first use, the hair felt very different: it was moisturized, lustrous, soft, and detangled. The ends as well as the roots were nourished, and the hair had a nice glow to it and was easy to comb through and style. After drying the hair, we noticed that the hair looked a lot healthier and had a silky-velvety touch to it. However, given that damaged hair varies in degrees of severity, we would recommend using the “Résistance Bain Thérapiste” as a cure by alternating it with another shampoo. In fact, we found that using the “Résistance Bain Thérapiste” as a main shampoo was too heavy for the hair because the formula tended to grease the hair after 3 consecutive uses. Since the shampoo is very concentrated, we also recommend making sure to rinse any excess product from the hair with cool or cold water to avoid buildup on the scalp which can cause itching. Price: The “Résistance Bain Thérapiste” retails at an average price of $26.7/250 mL which is a median and fair price compared to other products in the same range like Rene Furterer’s “Absolute Kératine, Renewal Shampoo” which sells at $36/200 mL and Klorane’s “Mango Butter Shampoo” which retails at $13/200 mL.

<a href="/brand/kerastase/"><strong> KÉRASTASE</strong> </a><br /> Specifique Bain Divalent Image
KÉRASTASE
Specifique Bain Divalent
Packaging: The shampoo comes in a light blue container with a capacity of 250ml that is somewhat transparent, allowing you to see the product inside Tested Shampoo and Hair Type Tested On: The shampoo tested was the Kérastase Specifique Bain Divalent and was applied on very long, light curly hair with a tendency to oil and fall Smell: The shampoo smelled fresh, but it is not overpowering. Texture: The texture of the product is creamy, non-foaming, and spreads in a buttery way on the hair. Effect: Most common shampoos rely heavily on silicones which have little to no affinity with human skin or hair and are water insoluble, meaning they are very tricky to wash out as they form a layer around the hair shaft, smothering the hair and preventing moisture from penetrating, which will – over time - lead to dryness and brittleness. Yet, it is still used as a main ingredient to most shampoos since it gives your hair added shine and smoothness Fortunately, the Bain Divalent shampoo is silicone free. This means no compromise on hair/scalp care especially and hence the “balancing shampoo” attribute mentioned on the label. Upon using the shampoo, we found it to be gentle on the hair because of its rich creamy-like texture but the non-foaming attribute made it a little difficult to lather and incorporate on a full head of hair (despite increasing the quantity used). The amount to use depends on hair length: the shorter and/or thinner the hair, the less quantity needed. We left the product on the hair for 2 minutes before rinsing it out. It rinsed out easily and one passage was enough to ensure that no residual amount is left on the hair and scalp. The shampoo was used 3-4 times a week over a period of 3 weeks. After the first two washes, the hair instantly felt clean, refreshed and nourished. As per the label, the shampoo reduced the oiliness of the roots and strengthened the ends of the hair – particularly if you have very long hair. We specifically noticed that the ends of the hair felt smoother and stronger as they broke less often. The hair looked healthier and more voluminous. No conditioner was used in parallel with the shampoo and we concluded that there is no need for it contrary to other types of shampoos. Other benefits of this shampoo include 3 main ingredients: calophyllum oil which calms irritation with anti- inflammatory actions, Piroctone which is an anti-bacterial active ingredient that soothes itching and irritations and finally glycerin which moisturizes the scalp to relax it from external aggressions. Once the hair reaps the benefits of Kérastase Bain Divalent, we recommend using it with another shampoo that has proven effective on your hair type by alternating between the two and using the Kérastase one as a hair are treatment more than a regular daily rinsing shampoo in order to avoid your hair and scalp to accommodate to its effects and become immune to them. Price: “Kérastase Specifique Bain Divalent” is sold for $26.8/250ml. This price might seem on the high side considering that you can find L’Oréal treatment shampoo such as “Elvive Low Shampoo Total Repair 5” for only $6/400ml but is less expensive than a “Dessange Sublimateur - Séduction Brillance which retails for 38.6$/250ml. As mentioned above, the benefit of Kérastase is that it can be used as a treatment more than a daily rinsing shampoo once the benefits are reaped.

<a href="/brand/kerastase/"><strong> KÉRASTASE</strong> </a><br /> Specifique Bain Prevention Image
KÉRASTASE
Specifique Bain Prevention
Packaging: The Kerastase Specifique Bain Prevention shampoo comes in a white bottle on which all the essential information about the components and results have been printed. Seeing that the bottle is opaque, it’s hard to tell how much shampoo you have left. The bottle’s flat cap is grey in colour and is quite inconvenient to use since you’ll have to fully unscrew it while showering, as opposed to other shampoo bottles that come with flip-top dispenser caps. Texture: A transparent liquid formula that foams up when applied to the hair. Smell: This shampoo has a faint, pleasant smell that doesn’t cause any irritation but gives off a fresh sensation. Hair type: The Bain Prevention shampoo was designed for normal hair prone to falling out. Effect: We tried out this shampoo for a full month on hair that was starting to experience falling out for around six months and was being vainly treated with hair loss-prevention pills and other types of shampoos. The Kerastase Specifique Bain Prevention, however, left noticeable effects after a month of use as hair loss after showering was reduced to half the quantity and no signs of loose hair strands were to be found on pillows or floors any longer. The hair also seemed more vibrant and texturized after having been fragile, brittle, and constantly falling out. Using it three times a week, we noticed that styling and brushing the hair became much easier after showering and that hair tangling decreased remarkably even without conditioning it. So if your main goal is to reduce hair loss, this shampoo does the trick. However, keep in mind that it does not help with regrowth, so you will need an alternative hair treatment designed for that. Price: The Kerastase Specifique Bain Prevention shampoo retails at 26.7 USD for a capacity of 250 ml in Lebanon. Its price is similar to that of other shampoos designed for hair loss-prevention such as Vichy’s Derco Densi-Solutions Thickening shampoo for 25.3 USD with the same capacity. As well as La Roche Posay’s Kerium Anti-hairloss shampoo for 24.4 USD per 200 ml.

<a href="/brand/kerastase/"><strong> KÉRASTASE</strong> </a><br /> Volumifique Bain Volume Image
KÉRASTASE
Volumifique Bain Volume
Packaging: The “Volumifique Bain Volume” by Kerastase comes in a bulky container of 250 mL. The color of the container is different shades of light green with black inscriptions on it and some silver design. The lid is screw-on which can be an issue when applying shampoo as it is difficult to close during a shower. Tested Shampoo and Hair Type Tested On: This shampoo is designed for fine/thin hair. We tested this shampoo on normal but thin hair. Smell: The shampoo has a fruity smell that lingers on the hair. Texture: The texture of the “Volumifique Bain Volume” shampoo by Kerastase is very creamy. Effect: After testing the “Volumifique Bain Volume” we found that the shampoo plumped the hair and added some thickness to its texture making it feel heavier. The silky consistency of the “Volumifique Bain Volume” reflects on the hair after usage: the hair feels more nourished and hydrated. We found that the best way to maximize the volumizing effects of this shampoo is to start by applying the product on dry hair and massage the shampoo onto the scalp to ensure that the roots are revitalized and then rinsing the hair with lukewarm to cold water. The shampoo added a nice and noticeable glow to the hair and the hair looked healthier after consistent use for almost a week. The “Volumifique Bain Volume” is so gentle on the hair that we did not need to apply a conditioner after it. In fact, the texture of the shampoo allowed the hair to soften and it was easier to dry and style, and the roots were stronger and thicker. However, because of the creamy nature of the product, the shampoo needs to be washed out of the hair and the scalp very thoroughly to ensure that there is no buildup which can cause itchiness. Price: The “Volumifique Bain Volume” sells at an average price of $26.7/250 mL which is pricier than Klorane’s “Shampoo with Papyrus Milk” $13/200 mL. Howerver, the Kerastase shampoo has a comparable price to Rene Furterer’s “Volumea Volumizing Shampoo” that retails at $26/200 mL.

<a href="/brand/loreal-professionnel/"><strong> L’ORÉAL PROFESSIONNEL</strong> </a><br /> Absolut Repair Lipidium Shampoo Image
L’ORÉAL PROFESSIONNEL
Absolut Repair Lipidium Shampoo
Packaging: The Absolute Repair Lipidium Shampoo comes in a small soft gold plastic bottle with a flip cap. On the font of the bottle, the black font writing informs the user of the purpose of the shampoo, the brand and product range it is part of, and on the back of the bottle, directions for use and ingredients. The packaging is travel-friendly, which is always a strong point. Smell: The Shampoo has a very nice floral smell, fresh and not too strong. It stays on the hair for quite some time, leaving you feeling refreshed even once your hair is dry. Hair type: This shampoo is best suited for damaged hair. Texture: The Absolut Repair Lipidium Shampoo has a creamy and thick texture. We found thatt the it lathers well. Application: Distribute the shampoo evenly through your wet hair and lather. Rinse thoroughly and repeat the process for an extra targeted cleanse. Effect: This shampoo is meant to cleanse damaged hair, with a formula enriched with lipidium and ceramides, in order to smooth, strengthen and add shine to the hair without weighing it down. It cleans your hair without drying it out, leaving hair feeling soft and smooth. However, we have found that for very thin hair, it might leave the roots feeling a bit greasy, due to the creamy feel of the shampoo. Our advice would be to use smaller amounts if that is the case for you. If you have frizzy hair, the shampoo canit helps reduce some of the frizz, with the bonus of adding shine and smoothness to previously dull hair. However, if you have wavy hair, the thick consistency of the shampoo, might cause natural curls to loosen just a little bit. In some instances, we also found the shampoo can result in the reduction of hair fall, although not its primary use [caution: for those with heavy hair fall, our advice is to consult a specialist and use hair fall prevention and repair products]. Finally, if you have chemically damaged hair this shampoo is a must try, as it works well and will help you gain back strength, shine and smoothness. Price: This L’Oréal Absolut Repair Lipidium Shampoo comes in a 300ml bottle, found at $20.2 on the market.

<a href="/brand/loreal-professionnel/"><strong> L’ORÉAL PROFESSIONNEL</strong> </a><br /> Silver Shampoo Image
Packaging: The “Silver Shampoo” by L’Oréal comes in a grey-colored bottle with a flip cap. The bottle has black and silver inscriptions on it. Hair Type and Hair Tested On: This product is suitable for grey, white, and very blond hair. This shampoo was tested on hair that’s dyed platinum blond and that has been moderately damaged. Texture: The “Silver Shampoo” has a creamy consistency. Smell: This product has a chemical smell. Effect: We tested the “Silver Shampoo” by L’Oréal on hair that has suffered discoloration and was turning yellowish because of dying and washing routines. The shampoo lathers-up very well. So, a little bit of product goes a long way. After several uses, we noticed that the hair is toned and has regained its dyed color. In fact, the brassy or yellowish hair strands reacted effectively to the shampoo and regained their liveliness and color. The “Silver Shampoo” worked by neutralizing undesired yellow and warm tones. It also added liveliness to the hair by boosting the hair’s color. It did so by reversing the effects of hair washing and styling on very light dyed hair. However, if used too much, the shampoo dries out the hair and makes it difficult to bush. So, we recommend pairing the “Silver Shampoo” with a heavy-duty conditioner or using it in alternation with a shampoo of your choice. Price: The “Silver Shampoo” by L’Oréal retails at an average price of $20.3/300 mL which is a fair price compared to other shampoos that range in price from Rene Furterer’s “Okara Active Light, Light Activating Shampoo” which sells at $26/200 mL and Klorane’s “Shampoo with Centaury” that retails at 13$/200 mL.

L’ORÉAL PROFESSIONNEL
Vitamino Color Shampoo
Packaging: The “Vitamino Color ” by L’Oréal comes in a sturdy light pink bottle with a flip-open cap. The bottle has black and pink inscriptions on it. Hair Type: This shampoo is designed for color-treated hair. The “Vitamino Color Shampoo” was tested on dyed and oily hair. Texture: The “Vitamino Color Shampoo” has a creamy texture. Smell: The shampoo has a mild smell. Effect: When testing the “Vitamino Color Shampoo” we noticed that it lathers up nicely. Not much product is needed to thoroughly clean the hair, so the bottle lasts a while. The shampoo’s effects were noticeable immediately after the first couple of uses. The hair appeared richer in color and shinier than usual. In fact, the “Vitamino Color” nourished the hair in a way that made it feel silky and velvety. It also allowed the hair color to last longer than usual and to keep its liveliness. Another effect of the shampoo was that it controlled the oil levels in the hair and made it less greasy. The “Vitamino Color shampoo" kept the hair clean for days at a time without drying the hair. Indeed, this is due to the UV protection that the shampoo provides which guards the hair from the effects of the sun and the heat effects of styling. Price: The "Vitamino Color Shampoo" by L’Oréal retails at an average price of $20.3/300 mL which is a median price compared to other products with similar effects such as Klorane’s “Anti-Fade Shampoo with Pomegranate” that sells at $13/200 mL and Redken’s “Color Extend”which retails at an average price of $16/300 mL.

L’ORÉAL PARIS
Elvive Extraordinary Oil Replacement
Packaging L’Oréal’s “Elvive Extraordinary Oil Replacement” is packaged in a heavy-duty squeeze-tube that has a flip-open cap. The squeeze-tube has a shiny gold copper color with the brand name and product description written in black on it. Hair Type: The product is designed for dry hair. Texture: The “Elvive Extraordinary Oil Replacement” has a creamy texture. Smell: This product has a strong fruity smell. Application: This product can be used either before washing the hair, during hair wash, and even after when the hair is dry. Since the “Elvive Extraordinary Oil Replacement” works as a nourishing hair treatment for dry hair it is recommended to be used as part of the normal hair wash routine. Effect: After using the product for 10 days, we found that it nourished and revitalized dry and destressed hair deeply. The results started showing after the second use when the hair became shinier because of the hydrating effect of the “Elvive Extraordinary Oil Replacement.” The cream also helped with hair styling because it smoothed the hair and made it easier to tame. While using the product in the different application methods recommended (before, during, or after hair wash), we found that the best results came from using a dollop of the cream during hair washing because it allowed for the most hydrating effect. The drawback was that when the product was used after hair wash it made the hair feel heavy and oily. Price: The “Elvive Extraordinary Oil Replacement” retails in Lebanon at $4.6/300 mL which is a good price. Other hair treatments (creams, and masks) that promise similar effects like Garnier’s Whole Blends products retail at $6.99/300 mL on the official website.

L’ORÉAL PARIS
Elvive Extraordinary Oil Nourishing Shampoo
Packaging: L’Oreal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Oil shampoo comes in a golden bottle that brings out its elegance and distinguishes it from other shampoo bottles found at the supermarket. You can find all of the essential information about the shampoo, application method, and the desired results printed on the bottle. The fact that it is also translucent allows you to easily determine the remaining quantity of shampoo in it, whereas it is harder to tell with other bottles. Smell: This shampoo gives off a pleasant, faint smell upon application and leaves your hair smelling fresh after washing it. Texture: The Elvive Extraordinary Oil shampoo has a light-weight, liquid formula that isn’t as greasy as you would expect even if it’s mainly based on oils. Hair type: This shampoo was designed for dry and dull hair. Effect: We tested this shampoo three times a week for a period of two months on dry hair suffering from split ends and dullness. The first two weeks of trial didn’t yield noticeable changes, so we began wondering whether it was going to bare any results. However, we noticed that the hair became less brittle when styling it and much softer shortly after the third week of trial. Consequently, we continued to use it for a longer period of time, which brought on even better results. The hair didn’t feel coarse anymore at the end of the second month. It actually felt healthier and we received several positive compliments about that. Our hair also appeared shinier and less damaged; so when you try out this shampoo, we advise you to be patient and give it time to work its magic. Initially, we were concerned about the use of a shampoo containing oils for it could add weight to the hair and prevent thorough cleaning. In spite of that, there wasn’t any residue left after rinsing, and we didn’t have to wash it more than usual due to heaviness. Price: This shampoo is available in two sizes: 400 ml for 4.3 USD in Lebanon and 700 ml for 6.3 USD. This value of price is similar to that of other shampoos such as Garnier’s Karite Shampoo with avocado oil and Shea butter which retails at 3 USD per 400 ml in Lebanon. So is Nivea’s Intense Repair shampoo which retails at 4.5 USD for the same capacity.

L’ORÉAL PARIS
Elvive Keratin Straight Shampoo
Packaging: The L’Oreal Paris Elvive Keratin Straight shampoo comes in an electric purple bottle with golden embellishment that makes it stand out. Its flip-open cap closes securely and has a practical nozzle that dispenses just the right amount of shampoo into the hand. However, the bottle is not transparent, which prevents you from estimating the quantity of product you have left. Smell: The Keratin Straight shampoo has a pleasantly sharp smell that lasts even after washing the hair. Texture: It has a thick and creamy formula. Hair type: This shampoo was designed for unmanageable, frizzy hair. Application: Spread a few drops of this shampoo on wet hair, lather up gently, and wash out. It is best to use along with the L’Oreal Elvive Keratin Straight Conditioner, which you spread out in the hair, leave in for a few minutes, and then wash out well. Effect: We used this shampoo along with its complementary conditioner for a whole month on curly, slightly damaged hair due to heat-straightening. It provided good results in terms of hair cleansing and removing build-up while giving it a nice smell. This shampoo does not only work on cleansing the hair, but it also straightens it for up to 72 hours as claimed on the bottle. It also displays the “Keratin Straight” effect, meaning that it acts as Keratin by giving you silky smooth hair. Upon trial, we noticed that this shampoo and conditioner duo helped tame and de-frizz the hair while we were combing and styling it. It was enough to blow-dry it without resorting to a hair straightener. This effect was the most apparent during the first day after use. But the next day, the hair restored its natural curl and frizz. This result reoccurred after each use. So we didn’t get to experience the proper 72 hour or 3 day sleek hair, but the shampoo did a good job in revitalizing and adding a shine to the hair after having suffered of damage due to constant straightening. Price: This L’Oreal shampoo retails at 4.3 USD per 400 ml in Lebanon, whereas the conditioner retails at 4.85 USD per 200 ml. Its price is similar to that of other hair-straightening shampoos available at supermarkets, such as Head & Shoulders Shampoo Silky Hair for 4 USD per 400 ml, and Pantene Smooth & Silky 2 in 1 sold at 3.6 USD for the same capacity.
